WHAT IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?
I’m a 100% natural light photographer. I can shoot from sunup to sundown. No matter the time of day we shoot, your images will always look amazing. I pride myself on not just being a photographer, but rather an artist creating unique and expressive imagery. My style is a little bit contrast, bold colors, sharp details with an artistic eye. I always strive to make each session different from the next.
DO YOU TRAVEL?
My fee includes travel within the local area (20 mile radius of Colorado Springs to include Falcon, Fountain, and Monument). I am willing to travel for an additional fee outside of the local area. For example, travel to Castle Rock or Denver would incur and additional $50 fee. I would also consider traveling greater distances or even out of state on a case by case base at the expense of the client.
WILL I GET TO VIEW EVERY IMAGE TAKEN?
I eliminate duplicate images, test shots, missed focused shots, shots with bad expressions and other images that may dilute the overall product. For example, because I shoot with low apertures, sometimes we take a few extra shots to make sure we have the perfect focus. Sometimes after viewing the images a pose may appear unflattering. I would not expect you to do my job selecting images with the sharpest focus, so I spend hours doing that myself to deliver outstanding quality. Occasionally, I will include more images in your private gallery for you to view than the number included in your selected package. You will be able to review your session and choose which photos are your favorites (number of photos depends on your package). If you desire the additional digital images they may be purchased separately for $35 each.
WILL MY IMAGES BE EDITED AND RETOUCHED?
All images delivered will be edited and retouched to my artistic style. I do my best to edit out any imperfections such as pimples, scars, bruises, etc. If there are any beauty or birth marks that you do not want edited out, please tell me prior to your session.
WHEN WILL I GET MY DIGITAL IMAGES?
It can take up 4 weeks after your session before you receive your images. Sometimes sooner, depending on whether it is my busy season. You will be emailed a link to your online private gallery where you can view, share, and download your images. I usually post a preview on my Facebook page and Instagram account within 48-72 hours of your session. After previewing you photos, you can chose to order some in printed format (see price list above). Once your order is placed, please allow 2 weeks to receive printed products.
WHERE CAN I ORDER PRINTS AND PRODUCTS?
I can order prints for you from professional printing labs that will deliver high quality to preserve accurate color rending during the printing process. I offer all standard photo sizes in several mediums such as photo paper, canvas, and metal images to name a few. Specialty sizes are also available by request for an additional fee.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
First and foremost, you should be comfortable! Outdoor family portrait sessions, especially with little kids, are fairly active. Expect kids to be kids, some may run around and get a little dirty. You may need to sit on the ground and we may do some walking to get to desired locations. Comfort is paramount, to allow you to relax and be yourself in front of the camera. Aside from comfort, I recommend color coordination! It photographs so well!
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A MIXTURE OF CANDID AND POSED FAMILY PHOTOS. CAN YOU DO BOTH?
Always. My visual storytelling style leans toward a candid, documentary approach (the kids being hilarious, the dog licking your face), but posed family photographs, where everyone is smiling and looking at the camera, are also treasured keepsakes. We'll find a way to work both into your session.
CAN WE BRING ALONG THE FAMILY PET?
Sure! Pets are totally family members! Let’s just make sure they’re groomed, well behaved, and on a leash. Bring plenty of treats and a few chew toys, to be safe.
WHAT IF MY KIDS DON’T COOPERATE?
I love getting to know my client's kids, even the ones you may think are shy/stubborn/you name it! I always approach the session as a new friend who’s just there to play and have a good time. I have all the patience in the world, and I find being easy-going translates to happy kiddos. That being said, not every moment of the session is perfect, and that’s totally OK — in fact, it’s encouraged! I’m willing to bet that you’ll cherish the image of your toddler crying fake tears just as much as the one we took 10 seconds later of him happily running toward the camera. My goal is to capture the kid's personalities in front of my lens, including all of the beautiful quirks, details, and small moments that make up childhood.
HOW CAN I PREPARE MY CHILDREN FOR THE SESSION?
Basically, be prepared for every scenario. We never really know how your kiddos will react. Bring extra clothes! Favorite toys and snacks from home are encouraged. Be sure your children are well rested.
WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE SURE OUR SESSION GOES SMOOTH?
The BEST thing you can do is let go and enjoy! I know it’s hard not to be stressed before your session, but babies pick up on anxiety really easily. We’ll have the best chance at getting gorgeous images if we let them happen naturally (with a little guidance from me, of course!) I want your pictures to be amazing! Your only job is to relax and have fun.
HOW DO I CHOOSE A LOCATION FOR MY PORTRAITS SESSION?
Together, we will talk about the look and feel you want for your portraits. Whether you like the rustic, city, or mountain vibe, we can find locations locally that you will love. I also like to make sure your outfits match the setting, so please send photos of your outfits prior to your session.
WHAT IF IT RAINS THE DAY OF MY SESSION?
We live in the beautiful state of Colorado, where the weather is unpredictable. I will watch the weather closely as your session approaches. If it looks like it will rain, we will reschedule to the soonest available opening.
DO YOU PROVIDE PROPS OR A BACKDROP?
I do not provide any props or a backdrop. All of my sessions are done outdoors at various locations. If you would like to bring props, you are more than welcomed to do so.
